Animal Quarantine Service inspects meat products/food involving meat (sausage, ham etc.) to prevent the spread of animal infectious diseases from imported meat, and keep our domestic animals healthy.
Travelers possessing meat products/food involving meat (sausage, ham etc.), must declare to “ANIMAL QUARANTINE COUNTER” and have them examined before customs examination .
Japanese law prohibits to bring in meat products/food involving meat (sausage, ham etc.) into Japan without permission from Animal Quarantine Service. Those who bring these products into Japan without permission, can be arrested.
