About 30 minutes from New Chitose Airport, Abira Town offers a golden early-summer landscape filled with color, fragrance, and gentle rural charm.

A carpet of bright yellow canola flowers spreads across rolling hills, filling the horizon with scenery that feels quintessentially Hokkaido. The best viewing season typically runs from mid-May to early June. More than 10 fields scattered throughout the town reveal different expressions each year, creating fresh discoveries with every visit. The sweet scent of flowers swaying in the breeze and the deep green of nearby wheat fields form a stunning early-summer contrast.

A seasonal highlight is the limited-time event “Nanohana Stroll.” Visitors can enjoy a “Canola Field Drive” aboard a covered wagon pulled by a tractor, or walk along footpaths that connect canola and wheat fields. The low hum of the tractor, the soft wind brushing your skin, and the gentle floral fragrance all combine to create a multisensory experience. It’s a luxurious moment that lets you savor Hokkaido’s early summer with your whole body.
