Only a short 15-minute drive from the Otaru Canal sits the Otaru Aquarium. The aquarium is a large-scale facility with over 70 different tanks that see more than 350,000 visitors each year. A show put on by the wild Stellar Sea Lions is available only during the summer, while the winter brings an adorable march of the Gentoo Penguins through fresh-fallen snow.
