If you're looking to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of Hokkaido, Fukidashi Park in Kyogoku Town is a must-visit destination. Known as the “Village of Famous Water,” this park is home to pristine spring water that flows from the base of Mt. Yotei, one of Hokkaido’s most iconic peaks.

Rain and snow that fall on Mt. Yotei slowly seep into the porous layers of the earth, taking decades to be naturally filtered and purified. The result is water rich in minerals and exceptionally smooth in taste. About 80,000 tons of this water gush out every day, maintaining a stable temperature of about 6.5°C, no matter the season.

In 1985, this spring was selected as one of the “100 Exquisite Waters of Japan” by the former Ministry of the Environment, attracting visitors from all over the country who come to taste its purity and enjoy the serene setting. Inside the park, the Michi-no-Eki Meisui Plaza offers mineral water, coffee jelly, and local specialties such as “Meisui-syu Kyogoku (Japanese sake)”—all made using the spring water. The adjacent restaurant features local favorites including Hokkaido-style Genghis Khan (grilled mutton), ramen, soba, and mineral water coffee.

Just a short walk from the park, you’ll find a park golf course, a campground, and the popular Kyogoku hot spring day spa. The open-air bath at Kyogoku hot spring offers a breathtaking view of Mt. Yotei—an experience that relaxes both body and mind.
