A forest at the southern end of the Hokkaido Garden Highway in Nakasatsunai Village, where six representative flowers of Tokachi and art museums harmonize on a 100,000 square meter site.
The six flowers of Tokachi—Ezo Gentian, Rugosa Rose, Large-flowered Trillium, Katakuri, Ezo Marsh Marigold, and Glaucidium palmatum—bloom magnificently, changing colors with each season. In spring, the purple of katakuri; in early summer, the blue-purple of Glaucidium palmatum; in summer, the deep blue of Ezo Gentian—the shifting colors of flowers dye the forest. Walking among the trees, the sweet scent of flowers mixes with the fresh forest air, and only the chirping of birds and rustling of leaves quietly echo. When the wind blows, flowers sway, and delicate petals shine in the light.
Art museums using old folk houses relocated from Croatia are scattered throughout the forest, and the foreign architectural style shows a mysterious harmony with Hokkaido's nature. The simple appearance of white walls and wooden structures blends into the surrounding greenery and flowers, creating a space where art and nature become one.
