Odori Park

A 1.5-kilometer urban park in central Sapporo, offering a peaceful escape amid nature and city life.
Originally established in 1871 as a firebreak, Odori Park is now a beloved green space for locals and visitors. Surrounded by seasonal flowers and some 4,700 trees from 90 species, it also hosts major events such as White Illumination and the world-famous Sapporo Snow Festival.
The park is divided into five themed zones. The International Exchange Zone features the Sapporo TV Tower and the Benson Water Fountain, a gift from sister city Portland. The Water and Light Zone offers fountains and evening illuminations, while the Celebration Zone is home to Isamu Noguchi’s “Black Slide Mantra.”
The Frontier Zone showcases pioneer monuments and the 25-meter-high Maibaum, a gift from Munich. In the Sunken Garden Zone, visitors can enjoy a rose garden and the historic Sapporo City Archive Museum. From late April to early October, the popular “Tokibi Wagon” serves grilled Hokkaido corn, filling the air with its savory aroma and offering visitors a taste of Hokkaido’s local flavors.
