Farm Tomita

A Purple Carpet Beneath Grand Peaks

Farm Tomita is home to one of Furano’s most iconic and expansive lavender fields. Here, visitors can fully immerse themselves in nature’s beauty, surrounded by hills draped in deep purple and a soothing, sweet fragrance.

The "Traditional Lavender Field" began in 1958 with just 10 ares and is celebrated as one of the oldest lavender fields in Japan. From late June to early August, various species bloom in succession, painting the hillsides in a vivid, deep purple. As the breeze carries the refreshing scent, you can feel the vitality of nature with every breath. The striking contrast between the colorful blooms and the distant, snow-capped mountains offers a unique palette found only here.

Inside the farm, the rhythmic sounds of the distillery—where essential oils are extracted from lavender and herbs—create a relaxing atmosphere. Visitors can browse shops for potpourri and original goods or enjoy the famous lavender soft-serve ice cream.

About 4 km east lies "Lavender East," the birthplace of lavender cultivation in the Furano region and one of the largest lavender fields in Japan. After gazing across the vast purple landscape, you can relax and soothe your feet in a foot bath fed by 100% natural hot spring water—a truly luxurious way to unwind during your travels.
