Farm Tomita
A Purple Carpet Beneath Grand Peaks
One of Furano’s most famous lavender farms, Farm Tomita invites visitors to enjoy rolling fields of purple blooms, sweet fragrances, and magnificent mountain scenery.
The Traditional Lavender Field began in 1958 with just 10 ares and is recognized as one of Japan’s oldest lavender fields. From late June to early August, different varieties bloom in succession, covering the hillsides in vibrant shades of purple. The fragrance of lavender drifts on the summer breeze, while the contrast between the colorful fields and the distant snow-capped mountains creates one of Furano’s most memorable landscapes.
Visitors can also explore the distillery, where essential oils are extracted from lavender and herbs, and browse shops selling potpourri, original products, and the farm’s popular lavender soft-serve ice cream.
About 4 km east of the main farm lies Lavender East, the birthplace of lavender cultivation in the Furano region and home to one of Japan’s largest lavender fields. After taking in the vast purple scenery, visitors can relax in a foot bath filled with 100% natural hot spring water, making it a perfect way to end a day surrounded by Furano’s famous lavender landscapes.
