Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park / Kamiyubetsu Tulip Fair
Ride through vast tulip fields and take home your own bulbs
Every spring, around 700,000 tulips of nearly 200 vibrant varieties transform the rolling hills of Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park into one of Hokkaido’s most spectacular floral landscapes.
The Kamiyubetsu Tulip Fair opens annually on May 1 and spreads across nearly 7 hectares within the park’s expansive 12.5-hectare grounds. From mid to late May, vivid red, yellow, pink, and purple tulips burst into bloom, creating a breathtaking tapestry of color across the hills.
The park also features rare tulip varieties imported from the Netherlands, adding a touch of Dutch charm to the scenery. Gentle spring breezes carrying the subtle fragrance of flowers make strolling through the gardens especially enjoyable and relaxing.
For panoramic views of the endless flower fields, head to the Dutch windmill-style observation deck overlooking the park. Visitors can also enjoy a leisurely ride on the electric sightseeing bus, which circles the grounds in about 18 minutes.
One of the highlights is the popular tulip bulb digging experience, where you can harvest your favorite blooms and take the bulbs home. This hands-on activity offers a memorable way to bring a piece of Hokkaido’s spring with you.
