Kohone House offers travelers a serene, self-service escape within the Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park. Famous for its sweeping views of the Sea of Japan and the iconic peak of Mt. Rishiri, this quiet coastal rest stop is the perfect place to soak in Hokkaido’s raw beauty.

Located along Prefectural Road 106—a stunning stretch of the "Ororon Line"—the facility is named after the Kohone (East Asian pond lily). These charming yellow flowers bloom across nearby ponds from early to mid-summer. As an unmanned station, it provides essential amenities like restrooms and vending machines, making it an ideal pit stop for a scenic coastal drive.

From the rooftop observation deck, the refreshing sea breeze accompanies a view of Mt. Rishiri rising strikingly from the sea. In early summer, native flowers like the Hamanasu (Japanese rose) and Ezo-kanzo (daylilies) paint the marshland in vibrant colors, while the air fills with sweet fragrances and birdsong. For a magical finale, visit at sunset to see the sky and sea turn golden, silhouetting the mountain against the fading light.
