Abashiri Phlox Park
Hand-Crafted by Locals Over Eight Years
This open garden park offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of Lake Abashiri. With 150,000 vibrant phlox plants coloring the hills, it is the perfect place to enjoy the refreshing breeze and the fleeting beauty of Okhotsk’s summer.
Spanning across a vast 10-hectare hill, you will find a stunning landscape filled with phlox in shades of red, pink, white, and purple. This park is the result of eight years of dedicated work by local volunteers who carefully cultivated the land to create this floral paradise.
The flowers begin to bloom in late July, reaching their peak in mid-August. During this time, the entire hillside is transformed into a vivid mosaic of colors, filling the air with a bright and celebratory atmosphere.
From the park’s vantage points, you can enjoy a panoramic view that includes the sparkling blue waters of Lake Abashiri and the lush green plains stretching toward Memanbetsu. It is a spot where you can truly feel the transition of the seasons with all five senses, surrounded by the contrast of colorful blooms and magnificent natural scenery.
