Okushiri Winery

Wines That Make Exquisite Use of the Okushiri Terroir

Okushiri Island is located southwest of Hokkaido Prefecture, in the Sea of Japan. The Okushiri Winery is located on this island, 60% of which is covered with primeval forests of beech trees. They handle the whole wine-making process, from growing the grapes to brewing the wine. They began cultivating grapes in 1999. Currently, they mainly grow grapes for European types of wine, such as merlot, chardonnay, pinot noir, and Kerner.
