Discover the ancient story of the Earth at the Hidaka Mountain Range Museum. Featuring large-scale dioramas and rare jade, this geology museum invites visitors to explore the deep history of Hokkaido’s mountains.

Located beside the Jukai Road Hidaka Roadside Station at the northern gateway to Hidakasanmyaku-Erimo-Tokachi National Park, the museum introduces the geological evolution and natural environment of one of Hokkaido’s most striking mountain landscapes.

The highlight is a detailed terrain diorama recreating the glacier-carved peaks and bowl-shaped cirques of the Hidaka Mountains. This striking model helps visitors grasp the immense natural forces that shaped the region over millions of years.

Among the most notable exhibits is rare Hidaka jade discovered in Hidaka Town, alongside a wide range of rocks, minerals, and geological specimens. At the microscope station, visitors can observe the intricate structures of mineral crystals, while exhibits on local flora and fauna reveal the unique ecosystem that thrives in this rugged environment.
