Located right in the heart of Asahikawa, this extraordinary forest transports you to another world with 52 different species of trees. It is the beautiful woodland that served as the backdrop for the masterpiece by renowned author Ayako Miura.

A Living Laboratory of Northern Nature Established in 1898, this is one of Hokkaido's oldest man-made forests, originally created to study whether trees from overseas could survive the island's harsh winters. Today, the vast 15-hectare grounds are home to about 6,000 trees. You will find about 30 foreign species, including Eastern White Pines and Norway Spruces, stretching high toward the sky. As you enter the forest, the gentle scent of wood fills the air, and the serene silence is broken only by the sweet chirping of wild birds.

A Nordic Escape in Asahikawa Take a stroll along the paths while listening to the gentle murmur of the nearby Biei River.
