The surrounding area features diverse and abundant alpine plant communities, which were designated as a National Natural Monument of Japan in 2022, offering an opportunity to view Rebun Island's valuable natural environment up close.
The trail leading from the observatory toward Motochi Lighthouse is widely used as part of the Momoiwa Observatory Course. Along the route, visitors can enjoy walking and trekking while viewing seasonal alpine plants, the varied coastline, and the surrounding natural scenery.
