A Spectacular Twin Waterfall Welcoming You to Shiretoko

Oshinkoshin Falls is one of Japan’s 100 Waterfalls and a stunning gateway to the Shiretoko World Natural Heritage area.

As you travel along National Route 334 toward Shiretoko, this magnificent waterfall suddenly appears, cascading down a rugged cliff in a striking display of power. A short climb up the stairs from the parking area brings you face to face with the rushing water. The falls are nicknamed "Twin Beauty Falls" because the stream splits into two distinct paths midway down the rock face. Standing near the middle of the falls, you can feel the cool mist brushing against your skin and hear the thunderous roar of the water as it crashes against the rocks, offering a refreshing and exhilarating experience.

The scenery transforms with the seasons, revealing different facets of Shiretoko’s wild nature. In autumn, the surrounding forest bursts into vivid shades of red and gold, creating a brilliant contrast with the white torrent of water. During winter, parts of the river freeze into intricate ice formations, turning the site into a rugged and mystical landscape. As a powerful symbol of the region’s untamed beauty, the falls provide a deep sense of refreshment through the pure air and the dynamic force of nature.
