Sobetsu Park
Gaze across blossoms to Mt. Usu and Lake Toya
A scenic spring destination where plum and cherry blossoms bloom side by side.
Perched on a hillside above Lake Toya, Sobetsu Park is home to around 300 Bungo plum trees. Here, plum blossoms and cherry blossoms reach their peak at the same time—creating a rare and beautiful spring display.
The plum grove spreads across the slope, where soft pink blossoms blanket the hillside alongside vibrant cherry flowers. A light floral fragrance drifts on the breeze, and petals flutter gently through the air, capturing the feeling of the season.
From the observation deck, sweeping views open out over the lake, with the rugged forms of Mt. Usu and Showa-Shinzan rising nearby. In the distance, the graceful cone of Mt. Yotei completes the scene. Framed by blossoms, this panoramic view is one of the most memorable sights of spring in the Lake Toya area.
