Kitoushi Forest

Kitoushi Forest is a natural park on Mt Kitoushi in Higashikawa, northern Hokkaido. At 457 meters, mountain is surrounded by a park about 25 times the size of Tokyo Dome. Trails, viewpoints and outdoor facilities make it a destination for all seasons.
Forest trails reveal reddish chert, rock formed on the seabed around 150 million years ago. From the observation tower, visitors can look out over Higashikawa’s patchwork fields and rice paddies, with the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range in the distance.
