Located along Biei's scenic Panorama Road, this observatory park offers a stunning vantage point where majestic peaks meet the gently rolling hills of Hokkaido’s countryside.

Situated in the heart of Biei's iconic hill country, San-ai-no-Oka Observatory Park provides a dramatic backdrop of the Daisetsuzan National Park to the northeast. To the southwest, the picturesque red triangular roof of Bibaushi Elementary School stands out against the lush green hills, creating a scene that looks like a masterpiece painting. As this is a hidden gem less frequented by large tour buses, you can enjoy a peaceful moment filled only with the gentle rustle of the wind and the singing of birds.

In early summer, the park is adorned with lilies of the valley—the official flower of Biei—filling the air with a delicate fragrance. The landscape is a vibrant patchwork of colorful fields, shifting in hue with the seasons against the powerful presence of the distant peaks. The park features a well-maintained rest area (azumaya), making it a perfect stop for those exploring the area by car or bicycle.
