Ginsendai, reached after proceeding 15km along the Taisetsu Kanko Road from Lake Taisetsu in Sounkyo, Kamikawa Town, is a famous autumn foliage spot at 1,490m altitude. Also known as the trailhead for Akadake climbing, from mid to late September each year, burning red broad-leaved trees, warmly colored yellow Dake birches, and deep green conifers cover the slopes. The color contrast mixing red, yellow, and green is breathtakingly beautiful, making this one of the places in Hokkaido where autumn colors arrive earliest.

Due to the high altitude location, cool air touches the skin, and the refreshing scent of conifers drifts on the wind. The sound of autumn-colored leaves rustling in the wind echoes quietly, and Daisetsuzan mountains stretch in the distance. Autumn colors spreading across gentle slopes extend like a colorful carpet as far as the eye can see, shining even more vividly when illuminated by morning sun. During autumn foliage season, private car restrictions are implemented and shuttle buses operate. In summer, it's busy with climbers; in autumn, many tourists seeking autumn colors visit this spectacular spot representing the Daisetsuzan range.
