A ropeway heading to Mt. Asahidake, Hokkaido's highest peak. From Sugatami Station at 1,600 meters elevation, you can view alpine plants and magnificent mountain scenery.
A ropeway connecting the foot station (about 1,100 meters elevation) and Sugatami Station (about 1,600 meters elevation) of Mt. Asahidake, Hokkaido's highest peak at 2,291 meters elevation. While ascending an elevation difference of about 500 meters, you can view the magnificent scenery of forests spreading below and mountains of 2,000-meter class extending in the distance. The cool air blowing in through the ropeway windows makes you feel the refreshing quality unique to high mountains, and you can see the changing appearance of surrounding mountain slopes in each season up close.
Around Sugatami Station, Chishima cherry blossoms known as "Japan's latest blooming cherry blossoms" bloom with pale pink flowers in the parking lot garden around mid-June every year. In summer, colorful alpine plants bloom on rocky areas and floral fragrances drift. Autumn arrives early, and from late August every year, autumn foliage colored red, and from late September colored yellow, covers the mountain slopes like a carpet, creating vivid scenery as if paint has been layered. You can experience the changing expressions woven by nature in each season from the height of 1,600 meters elevation.
