Established in 1920, Shirotai Ranch is a town-managed pastoral expanse covering about 160 hectares. From early summer through autumn, cattle graze peacefully on lush green pastures, their presence creating a tranquil atmosphere where time seems to slow down to the gentle rhythm of a cowbell. From the observatory, the elegant silhouette of Mt. Komagatake and the distant Mt. Hakodate frame a quintessential Hokkaido scene of vibrant blues and greens. On mornings when the conditions are just right, you may even witness a mystical sea of clouds blanketing the plains like a delicate white veil.

The Shirotai Skyline, a 14-km scenic drive winding through the ranch, offers a refreshing journey through fresh spring greenery or vivid autumn foliage. Upon stepping out of your car at the summit parking area, you are greeted by a crisp mountain breeze and the soothing scents of grass and forest.
