Akenogaoka Park

Panoramic Views Across the Tokachi Plain

Akenogaoka Park is a vast 250,000-square-meter park in Makubetsu, offering panoramic views of the Tokachi Plain and a variety of outdoor activities throughout the year.

Set amid the wide-open landscapes of Tokachi, the park provides walking trails, a park golf course, and seasonal recreation areas surrounded by nature. Strolling through the grounds, visitors can enjoy fresh air, gentle breezes, and the changing scenery of each season.

The park's symbol is the observation tower "Pira Ri," whose name means "great cliff" in the Ainu language. Standing 12 meters high, the tower features a distinctive design inspired by cliffs and the surrounding land. From the observation deck, visitors can take in sweeping views of the Hidaka Mountains, the Daisetsuzan range, and the patchwork fields of the Tokachi Plain.

The park is also home to a mountain bike course supervised by Olympic mountain biker Yamamoto Kohei, a native of Makubetsu. Whether exploring the trails, enjoying outdoor sports, or simply taking in the scenery, Akenogaoka Park offers a memorable way to experience the natural charm of Tokachi.
