Tokachi Nature Center

Discover the Heart of Tokachi in Every Season

Set in the vast landscapes of eastern Hokkaido, Tokachi Nature Center offers immersive outdoor experiences throughout the year.

From spring to autumn, tethered hot air balloon flights lift you gently into the sky. As the burner roars to life, you rise about 30 meters above the ground, where the Tokachi Plain spreads out below in a patchwork of farmland, framed by the distant ridgelines of the Hidaka Mountains. Feel the breeze on your face and take in the sheer scale of the land. On the Tokachi River, SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) and canoe tours offer a quieter way to explore. Drift along calm waters, listen to the gentle sounds of the river, and take in the surrounding nature from just above the surface.

In winter, the landscape transforms into a vast white expanse. Speed across snow-covered fields on a snow rafting ride, or simply take in the crisp air and endless scenery. It’s a side of Tokachi that can only be experienced in the colder months. Since 1997, experienced local guides have supported visitors of all levels, making it easy for beginners to join. Step into Tokachi’s great outdoors and discover a side of Hokkaido you won’t forget.
