Experience the spirit of Asahikawa in a beautifully restored former railway workshop. Preserved through the passion of local citizens, its grand red-brick architecture now serves as a dynamic hub for creativity, connection, and new beginnings.

Located in the Civic Core district just a short walk from Asahikawa Station, the facility was originally constructed in 1899 as a workshop of the former Japanese National Railways (JNR). The building showcases impressive industrial heritage, with thick brick walls—about 460 mm deep—laid in a meticulous French bond brick pattern, a traditional European masonry style.

Step inside to discover a striking sense of openness created by soaring high ceilings. The weathered texture of the bricks and warm wooden interiors quietly tell stories of more than a century of history. After the workshop closed in 1985, local citizens united to preserve the structure, transforming it into a cherished gathering place for generations.

Today, CoCoDe thrives as a lively center of community creativity. A welcoming exchange lounge, multi-purpose hall, and dedicated workspaces foster inspiration, while the gentle hum of creative activity fills the air.
