Goro's Stone House is the fifth home of Goro Kuroita, a central character from the iconic Japanese drama From the Northern Country (Kita no Kuni Kara). He lived here from the 1995 special episode Secrets to the series’ final chapter 2002 Testament. The house was built entirely by Goro himself, using stones that were unearthed from the fields due to past volcanic activity from Mt. Furano, as depicted in the 1989 episode Return Home.

Nestled in the midst of untouched nature, the house is instantly recognizable by its striking red roof and windmill. From the viewing deck in front of the house, visitors can take in the peaceful landscape that surrounds this memorable filming location.

The interior is open to the public and features preserved film sets, photo panels, and props used during filming. You’ll also find the stone bath heated with firewood and the original fireplace, both of which bring the drama’s heartfelt scenes back to life.

Within the spacious grounds, you’ll also find a faithfully reconstructed version of The First House, the home where the Kuroita family—who moved from Tokyo—first lived. Visitors can even see the second floor where young Jun and Hotaru once slept, evoking memories of the early episodes and the show's rich emotional history.

The warm, rustic atmosphere created by natural materials like stone and wood, along with the windmill spinning gently in the greenery, makes this a must-see location. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the drama or have never seen it before, Goro’s Stone House offers a unique and moving glimpse into rural life in Furano.
