A civic park located in Chuo Ward, Sapporo City, adjacent to the Maruyama Primeval Forest designated as a natural monument, known as one of Sapporo's premier cherry blossom viewing spots.
Located on the north side of Maruyama Primeval Forest, it is surrounded by rich nature with broad-leaved trees such as Japanese oak and Katsura. In spring, cherry blossoms planted throughout the park bloom all at once, and the sight of pink flowers spreading against the blue sky is spectacular. Under the cherry blossom trees, petals dance in the wind and a soft floral fragrance drifts. From deep in the forest, chirping of birds can be heard, and the sound of rustling tree leaves quietly echoes. The beautiful contrast between the deep green of the primeval forest and the cherry blossoms allows you to feel rich nature while in the city.
The park is equipped with facilities including Maruyama Zoo, baseball field, tennis courts and other sports facilities, attracting diverse people from families to sports enthusiasts. Together with the adjacent Hokkaido Shrine grounds, it is beloved as a place of relaxation for Sapporo citizens, and people enjoying walks are constantly seen on weekends.
