Just a short walk from Sapporo Station in the Naebo district, the Snow Brand Megmilk Dairy Farming & Milk History Museum and its adjoining Sapporo Factory offer an immersive journey through the evolution of dairy farming and milk production. Established in 1977, the museum was founded to preserve and share Hokkaido’s rich dairy heritage with future generations.
Inside the museum, you’ll find a wide array of artifacts and exhibits tracing the development of dairy farming in Hokkaido—from early ranching techniques to modern milk processing. Then, join a guided tour of the Sapporo Factory’s production room, where you can peer through large viewing windows and watch milk being processed in real time.
In the museum’s waiting lounge, you’ll also encounter the "Katsugen Shrine", dedicated to wishes for academic success and victory. Its name and altar pay homage to "Katsugen", the regionally beloved lactic acid beverage first sold here, with original early bottles on display.
