Located in the northwest of the Tokachi Plain, Naitai Highland Ranch is Japan’s largest public ranch, established in 1972 as a national project for raising young cattle. Within this immense landscape, about 2,000 dairy cows from both within and outside the town graze peacefully, creating a classic, idyllic Hokkaido scene. The 7-kilometer drive from the entrance gate is a spectacular journey through rolling green hills that seem to stretch forever. As you wind your way up, open your windows to feel the cool, crisp breeze and catch the earthy scent of the highland grass.

At the summit sits Naitai Terrace, a striking observation facility with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that provide a panoramic 360-degree view. Inside, a serene atmosphere filled with the warmth of natural wood awaits. You can relax and look out over the sprawling plains below and the distant ridgeline of the Hidaka Mountains. The name "Naitai" comes from the Ainu word for "deep mountain stream," reflecting the profound connection to nature you will feel here.
