Lake Shikaribetsu

Four Seasons of Beauty

Lake Shikaribetsu is the only natural lake located within Daisetsuzan National Park. Situated at an altitude of 810 meters, it holds the distinction of being the highest lake in Hokkaido. The shoreline, stretching 13.8 kilometers, is intricately complex, and Bentenjima Island graces the northern part of the lake. This richly natural environment is also home to the Hokkaido pika, a rabbit-like mammal found only in Hokkaido.

The western shore is where you'll find the sole hotel on the lake shore, "Hotel Fusui," as well as the "Lake Shikaribetsu Nature Center," which offers a variety of outdoor programs. We highly recommend an overnight stay to fully enjoy the diverse activities available for experiencing the beautiful lake.
