A historic landmark of Kushiro, Nusamai Bridge is one of Hokkaido’s three most famous bridges, offering a breathtaking view recognized as one of the world’s three greatest sunsets.

Spanning the downstream of the Kushiro River, Nusamai Bridge is celebrated as one of Hokkaido’s "Three Great Bridges," alongside Toyohira Bridge in Sapporo and Asahi Bridge in Asahikawa. Its history dates back to 1889, and its evocative scenery was once captured in the poems of the famous poet Ishikawa Takuboku, who walked this very path. The current fifth-generation bridge features the "Statues of the Four Seasons," erected through citizen donations, while its stately stone railings exude the dignified atmosphere of a historic port town.
