Marukoma Hot Spring is a historic inn located on the northern shore of Lake Shikotsu, at the foot of Mt. Eniwa. Its hot spring source was discovered in 1915, and the inn opened two years later. Facilities include public baths, an open-air bath with lake views, private baths, a Finnish-style löyly sauna, and a cold bath supplied with water from Lake Shikotsu.
The inn’s signature feature is its natural open-air bath, separated from the lake by a rocky area and connected to it by a water channel. Hot spring water at around 50°C rises naturally through the gravel at the bottom of the bath. The bath’s depth varies with the lake’s water level, which fluctuates with the seasons and weather.
